Hi All!
Pc specs: intel i7 4.2ghz 4770k 16gb ram. running minecraft server on same pc to play as well.
I started getting into minecraft again and wanted to start a small server of 3-5 players. I decided to go with The Simple Life 2 (on minecraft version 1.10.2). Upon starting the server, the server would load up, but sometimes during the loading processes I would have to press enter or type a random character so it would continue to load up. Once the server loads up, I join in with friends, and sometimes we would get kicked because of a timeout. I would go back on my server cmd line press enter, and a ton of information would catch up. Everytime it would say “can’t keep up!” or “player moved too quickly!”. I thought I had too little ram, so I increased it to 6gb. Still having the same problem. It’s very frustrating. I also tried running the server on a different pc, and would get the same problem (i3 4gb ram not so great, but getting exact problem with i7 and 16gb ram)
I then decided to try a different mod pack. FTB Beyond, version 1.11.0(latest release). Now this modpack was definitely running smoother than TSL2, but I left the server running all night and woke up to the server backing up, but it was stuck. Again I had to press enter, or type in random key in the cmd to make it catch up. It’s getting quite annoying now. I’m not sure if this is because of 1.10~ and onward. Should I just play on a older version of minecraft?
Any way for me to dig up console logs or if those big pauses in the cmd are crashes? please let me know!
[Server thread/WARN]: Can’t keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 7289351ms behind, skipping 145787 tick(s) - This is crazy!
here is a youtube video on the problem. I am using remote connection to server pc and you can see I have to type a character in so the cmd line updates.
